January 10, 1929 – October 2, 2011

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 6, 2011, at St. Mary’s Cathedral (Upper Church) for Earl J. Solinger, age 82, of St. Cloud, who passed away on Sunday, October 2, 2011 at. St. Benedict’s Senior Community in St. Cloud. Reverend Anthony Oelrich will officiate. Entombment will take place in Assumption Cemetery Mausoleum in St. Cloud with military honors.
Family and friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday and after 9:00 a.m. on Thursday at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud. The Knights of Columbus Council #961 will pray at 6:00 p.m. followed by parish prayers at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. The St. Cloud Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus Father Pierz Assembly #530 will stand Honor Guard from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
Earl was born on January 10, 1929 in Roscoe, Minnesota to Mathew and Louise (Ramacher) Solinger. He served honorably in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He then married Veronica Lauer on October 17, 1959 in Eden Valley. They lived in both Benson and Morris before moving to Sartell and St. Cloud. Earl worked as a book keeper at A.J. Daniel Furniture Company, Sherwin Williams, and Great Northern Railroad for 14 years, Norm Rosha Inc. for 29 years and Champion Int’l for 21 years. He retired in 1988. Earl was a member of St. Mary’s Cathedral, Eagles Aerie #622, Sauk Rapids American Legion Post #254, St. Cloud Third Degree Knights of Columbus Council #961, and the St. Cloud Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus Father Pierz Assembly #530.
Earl enjoyed fishing and hunting, watching both the Twins and Vikings, making Rosaries, and sampling sweets (especially strawberry milkshakes). He always treasured the time spent with his family, particularly when talking sports and fishing with his grandsons. Earl will be missed by family and friends and was always known for wearing his Twins or Vikings Caps and his cute little smile. He was a man of great faith and integrity.
He is survived by his daughters, Jean Marie Solinger of St. Cloud, and Mary (Lee Scully) Brown of St. Cloud; two grandsons, Aaron (Miranda Boser) Brown of Pierz and Ryan (Danielle Nelson) Brown of St. Cloud; sister, Dorothy (Dave) Taylor of California; many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Earl was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Veronica in 2008; and brother, LeRoy.
A Special Thank You to the Staff at St. Benedict’s Senior Community, especially the third floor Alzheimer Unit for all the love and compassion shown to Earl and his family during his stay there and also Sr. Juliana Lauer for always being there.
