Carolee Sjodin

Funeral Services will be 11 a.m. on Monday, August 8, 2011 at Love of Christ Lutheran Church in St. Cloud for Carolee Sjodin, age 17, of Sauk Rapids. Carolee lost her battle with neuroblastoma cancer on August 2, 2011 at University of Minnesota, Amplatz Children’s Hospital in Minneapolis. Pastor Paul Hennings will officiate. Burial will take place in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Sauk Rapids.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Sunday and one hour prior to services on Monday at the Love of Christ Lutheran Church in St. Cloud.

Carolee was born April 24, 1994 in Duluth, MN to Michael and Candice (Feia) Sjodin. She was a junior at Sauk Rapids-Rice High School when she was diagnosed in December of 2010. She is survived by her mother Candice Sjodin of Sauk Rapids, father Michael Sjodin of Eveleth, and many aunts, uncles, relatives, friends and best friend Kiana Washington. She was preceded in death by her grandparents Vernon and Evelyn Feia and Roger and Irene Sjodin.

Carolee will be remembered for her compassion, having written a song “I will hold your hand” expressing her heartfelt empathy for other victims of cancer, especially infants and children. She had a gift for music, playing guitar and singing.

Carolee’s family would like to thank Love of Christ Lutheran Church, specifically Pastor Paul Hennings, who led her in her journey to join her Lord and Savior and join her heavenly family. Thank you to all the doctors and staff, especially Dr. Nancy McAllister, Missy Christiansen and Tom Dodge at Children’s Hospital in Minneapolis, and Dr. Wes Miller at Amplatz Children’s Hospital where she received her stem cell transplant and spent her final days. Thank you to all the support from her teachers, friends and followers on Caring Bridge.
