Richard S. "Dick" Heins
October 3, 1938 – March 19, 2011

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 22, 2011 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Sartell, for Richard S. “Dick” Heins, age 72, of Sartell, who passed away March 19, 2011 at his home. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery with full military honors.
Relatives and friends may call from 4-8 p.m. on Monday at the Daniel Funeral Home in ST. CLOUD. Parish prayers will be at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church in Sartell.
“The whole story is”: Dick was born October 3, 1938 in Lake City, MN to Richard and Florence (McKenzie) Heins. After graduating from high school he served in the Air Force from November 19, 1956 to November 18, 1960. During that time he was stationed at 626th AC&W Squadron, Fire Island, Alaska, 728th AC&W Squadron Shaw AFB, South Carolina, TDY Incirlik AFB, Turkey, and Chaumont AFB, France. He married Kristi Hollenkamp on July 10, 1981 in St. Cloud. He worked at DeZurik’s for 40 years. He was a member of St. Francis Xavier Parish in Sartell.
Dick enjoyed playing baseball, softball, basketball, golfing and bowling. He also was an avid duck hunter and walleye fisherman.
Dick is survived by his wife Kristi, children Rick and Lindsey of Sartell, his step children Heidi Campbell of St. Cloud, and Craig (Jenny) Hollenkamp of Sartell, six grandchildren Allie, Brianna, Zach, Madison, Rylan and Caitlyn, sister Rose Hunstiger of St. Cloud, brothers Dave (Lila), Steve (Kay), Bob (Cindy), John, Jim and his sister Mary.
Preceding him in death were his parents, step mother Agnes, sisters Dorothy Quarfot, and Audrey Heins and son-in-law Major Campbell.
Memorials are preferred.
