Petrie, 62, of Minneapolis and formerly of St. Joseph will be at 11 AM on Friday, August 6, 2010, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in St. Joseph. Diane was born on June 27, 1948 in Willmar, Minnesota, to Joseph and Geraldine (Ehlers) Farmer of Bird Island. She graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Bird Island in 1966 and married Ronald J. Petrie on June 24, 1967. They resided in the Twin Cities area until moving to St. Joseph in the early 1970’s. Diane lived in St. Joseph until 1994 when she moved into assisted living due to Huntington’s and moved to Good Samaritan in 1999.
Diane was a spirited person who enjoyed spending time with family and friends, fishing and going on walks. She had a strong will to live despite Huntington’s and we will always remember her beautiful smile.
She is survived by her daughters, Raeleen Heeder (Carl) of St. Cloud and Nicky Petrie of St. Joseph; grandchildren, Jacob and Rebecca Brannan; sister, JoAn Dols of Good Samaritan Care Center in Minneapolis; niece, Susan Dols and her son Matthew Neiberger of Watertown; and many relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by Ronald in 1996; father, Joseph in 1987; and mother, Geraldine in 1964.
Memorials are preferred to the Huntington’s Disease Society. The family requests that no floral arrangements with lilies be sent due to a severe allergy.
Special recognition and thanks is given to the many staff members and friends at Good Samaritan and Hospice of the Twin Cities for the love, support and care given to Diane and all of her family.

Diane and Ron were like parents to me. I will always miss them and cherish all the time I did have with them. They were both wonderful to me and I am very thankful for all they did for me over the years!! I am sorry they are both gone. Love, Hugs and Prayers!!
Our deepest sympathy on the passing of your mother.
I remember all the good times I shared with Diane, and with Diane and Ron together. Many nights of playing cards after finally getting the kids to sleep. Her smile was always warm and beautiful. My heart and prayers are with Diane, Raeleen, and Nicky.
