I am very sorry to hear of Jim’s passing. I got to know Jim through the St. Cloud Municipal Band. He was a great player and a great person. He will be sorely missed.
James G. "Jim" Dinndorf
October 6, 1924 – October 26, 2009

Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. on Friday, October 30, 2009 at St. Mary’s Cathedral Upper Church for James G. "Jim" Dinndorf, age 85, of St. Cloud, who passed away Monday at his home. Reverend Anthony Oelrich and Reverend Alfred Stangl will officiate. Inurnment will take place at Assumption Cemetery Mausoleum in St. Cloud. Relatives and friends may call after 9:30 a.m. on Friday at the church.
Jim was born October 6, 1924 in St. Cloud to Peter and Catherine (Seibert) Dinndorf. He graduated from St. Cloud Cathedral High School in 1943. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII from 1943-1946. He married Elizabeth “Betty” Rian on August 20, 1949 at St. Mary’s Cathedral in St. Cloud. He owned and operated Dinndorf Paint and Wallpaper Company along with his family. For over 60 years he played sousaphone in the St. Cloud Municipal Band. He was treasurer of the St. Cloud Exchange Club for 40 years. He was a member of VFW Post 428, Knights of Columbus Council 961, and was an active member of St. Mary’s Cathedral Parish where he sang in the choir. He enjoyed spending time at his cabin.
Jim is survived by his son Bob (Paula) Dinndorf and their children Neil (Lisa) of Madison, WI, and Andrea of Seville, Spain, daughter Catherine (Joe) Roby of Duluth and their children Carrie (Morgan Kunz) of New York City, Pat of Seattle, Paul and Kristi of Duluth, and son Patrick (Pamela) Dinndorf and their children Sydney, Egan, and Eli all of St. Cloud.
Preceding Jim in death were his parents, wife Betty, sisters Louise Barrett, Margaret and Rita Dinndorf, and brothers John and Leo Dinndorf.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to St. Mary’s Cathedral, St. Cloud Cathedral High School or donor’s choice.
