Earl J. Heltemes

Mass of Christian Burial celebrating the life of Earl J. Heltemes, age 93, of St. Cloud will be at 12:30 pm on Monday, October 20, 2008 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in St. Cloud. Earl died on Wednesday, October 15, 2008 at Sterling Park Health Care Center in Waite Park. Burial will be in Assumption Cemetery. Friends may call after 11 am on Monday at the church in St. Cloud. Arrangements are with Daniel Funeral Home, St. Cloud, MN.

Earl was born on February 9, 1915 in Sauk Rapids, MN to John and Rose (Spranger) Heltemes. He married Gertrude Halupzok on October 20, 1941 in St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in St. Cloud. He lived in St. Cloud all of his life. He worked for Hilger Co. prior to being employed at St. Cloud Auto Supply for 25 years, retiring in 1981. He was a charter member of St. Peter’s parish and a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 622.

Earl will be remembered for his quick wit and sense of humor. Growing up on a farm and his love of the earth lead to his enjoyment of maintaining a lovely yard.

Survivors include his sons: Richard of Kent, WA and Gary (Debby) of St. Joseph; grandchildren: Kristy of Sartell and Chad of St. Cloud; sisters: Bernice Studer of Sauk Rapids, and Kathryn Fleegel of Thief River Falls.

He was preceded in death by his wife on Feb. 8, 1974, and two sisters Laverne Studanski and Duane Martin.

The family would like to thank the many caregivers who helped Earl over the past few years.
