Louis S. Stang

November 16, 1928 – October 4, 2008

Mass of Christian Burial celebrating the life of Louis S. Stang, age 79, of Lake Henry will be at 11 am on Friday, October 10, 2008 at St. Margaret’s Catholic Church in Lake Henry, MN. The Rev. Richard Leisen will officiate. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

Friends may call between 4-9 pm on Thursday at the Daniel-Anderson Funeral Home in Paynesville and after 10 am on Friday at the church in Lake Henry. St. Margaret’s parish prayers will be at 8 pm on Thursday at the funeral home in Paynesville.

Louis was born on Nov. 16, 1928 in Rockville, MN to Joseph and Ida (Dietman) Stang. He married Mary Glatzel on June 5, 1950 in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in St. Joseph, MN. Prior to starting farming in the Rice area in 1955 he was employed by the Cold Spring Granite Company. In 1962 he moved to the Lake Henry area where he farmed the rest of his life. He was a member of the Farm Bureau, Minnesota Holstein Association, St. Margaret’s parish and St. Joseph’s Society.

Louis treasured his family above all. His other loves included farming, field-work, and an occasional fishing trip.

Survivors include his loving wife of 58 years Mary, children: Ruth Schultz (Charles) of Clearwater, Charles, Roger and Paul of Lake Henry, Michelle Watkins (Roger) of Dunlap, IL, Virginia Scherping (Vern) of Little Falls, Donna Bradford (Mike) of Zealand, MI, Earl (Anne) of Paynesville, Evelyn Nietfeld (Ron) of St. Michael and Sonia Dickerson (Don) of Roseville; 31 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; sisters and brothers: Viola Odegard (Carl) of St. Cloud, Iris Philippi of Cold Spring, Irvin (Luverne) of Cold Spring, Joseph of Cold Spring, Florence Weirens of Columbia Heights and Ida Mae Rossman (Gene) of Cold Spring.

He was preceded in death by his daughter Marcia in 1963 and his parents.
