I was so sorry I was unable to attend Joan’s funeral. She was such a nice person and it was very much a privilege to have sang and played my guitar for her in her room at Koronis Manor. Her smile lite up my day!!! Julie

A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 4, 2008 at St. Louis Catholic Church in Paynesville for Joan M. Kost, age 81, of Paynesville, formerly of Cheyenne, WY, who died September 22, 2008 at the Koronis Manor in Paynesville. Burial will take place in the St. Louis Parish Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call after 9:30 a.m. on Saturday at the church.
Daniel-Anderson Funeral Home in Paynesville is in charge of the arrangements.
Joan was born June 28, 1927 in Paynesville to Arnold G. and Veronica (Jacobs) Kost. She graduated from Paynesville High School and the College of St. Catherine. After college she taught English for five years in Maynard and Willmar. Leaving teaching behind she began work as an office manager in hospitals. From 1956-1979 she joined the Sisters of Charity in Leavenworth, KS, continuing hospital work. Most of the rest of her life was working in Hospital Administration areas in several western states. After retirement she returned to Paynesville to help with an aging mother. She was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church and the Christian Women.
Joan is survived by her sisters Irene (Robert) Schaefer of Scottsdale, AZ, Mary Kost of Denver, CO and Katy (Tom) Lindquist of Paynesville and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents.
Memorials are preferred.
