How will I remember Tony,a man with a very great sense of humor always ready for a smile or laugh and a good story teller.A man who would truley interested in what you had to say! Also a guy who was ready to lend a helping hand when needed!

Anthony J. "Tony" Guggenberger
January 10, 1922 – April 13, 2008

Funeral services celebrating the life of Anthony “Tony” J. Guggenberger, age 86 of Waite Park will be at 12:30 pm on Friday, April 18, 2008 at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church in St. Cloud. Tony died on April 13, 2008 at the St. Cloud Hospital. The Rev. Aaron Kuhn will officiate. Entombment will be in the Assumption Mausoleum with full military honors.
There will be a visitation between 4-9 pm on Thursday at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud and after 11:30 am on Friday at the church. Cold Spring American Legion Post 455 will meet at 6 pm on Thursday at the funeral home in St. Cloud followed by VFW Post 4847 at 6:30 pm and St. Augustine’s parish prayers at 7 pm.
Tony was born on January 10, 1922 in Cold Spring, MN to Sebastian and Amalia (Minnerath) Guggenberger. He received the Bronze Star for his service in the US Army during WW II. He married Mildred M. Bohls on January 14, 1950 in Watkins, MN. He was employed as a carpenter for over 28 years at Miller Construction. Later he was a self-employed carpenter. He and his wife also owned and operated Popple Creek Store in rural Sauk Rapids until he retired in 1994. He was a member of American Legion Post 455 of Cold Spring, VFW Post 4847 and St. Augustine’s parish.
Tony will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend.
Survivors include his loving wife of 58 years Mildred, children: Karen (Herb, Jr) Kipka of St. Francis, Darrel (Jackie) of Sauk Rapids, Janice (Dave) Toffel of Waite Park, Anita (Mike) Petschen of St. Cloud; nine grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; sister Delphine Terwey of St. Augusta.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 10 brothers and sisters.
