Lorraine Surma

Mass of Christian Burial celebrating the life of Lorraine Surma, age 80 of St. Cloud will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 7, 2006 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in St. Cloud. Lorraine passed away Wednesday, October 4 at the St. Cloud Hospital. Reverend Bernard Gruenes will officiate. Entombment will be at Assumption Cemetery Mausoleum in St. Cloud.

Friends may call one hour prior to services Saturday at the church. Arrangements are with the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud.

Lorraine was born on January 15, 1926 in Royalton, Minnesota to Alex and Sophie (Opatz) Waletski. She graduated from Little Falls High School in 1943 and worked for the Red Owl Hopkins Office for six years. Lorraine married Mark Surma on June 9, 1948 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Bowlus. She was a member of St. Michael’s Parish and a former member of St. Peter’s Parish in St. Cloud. Lorraine was also a member of mission groups for many years.

Lorraine was a kind and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She lived her life for her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed her time fishing at Big Birch Lake with her family and friends. She loved prayer, crossword puzzles, and playing cards. She enjoyed her winters in Sun City, Arizona for 25 years.

Lorraine is survived by her beloved husband of 58 years, Mark; children, Mary Kay (Lee) Warrings, Bill (Ann), Patti (Patrick) Doherty, Don (Carla), Nancy (fiancé Rich), Lori (Greg) Anderson; grandchildren; Angie and Jenny Surma, Erica Akkerman, Nick and Darren Surma, Jason and Emily Anderson; and brothers, John (Helaine) Waletski, Jim (Rita) Waletski, and Bob (Carol) Waletski.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Butch Waletski; and sister, Delores Booth.

Memorials will be sent to the Poor Clares Monastery in Sauk Rapids.
