Phillip E. Young

Memorial services for Phillip and Audrey Young will be at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, August 4, 2006 at the Daniel-Anderson Funeral Home in Paynesville, MN. Phillip Edward Young age 90 died on Friday, July 21, 2006 at the Koronis Manor Nursing Home in Paynesville, MN. Audrey Young age 79 died on November 27, 1996.  Pastor Jeff Bergman of Paynesville Lutheran Church will officiate.  Inurnment will be in the Paynesville Cemetery at Paynesville, MN.  Visitation will be on Friday, August 4, 2006 from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. at the Daniel-Anderson Funeral Home in Paynesville.

Phillip was born on March 31, 1916 at Edina, MN the son of Albert and Carrie (Petersen) Young.  He grew up and went to school in Edina. He was united in marriage to Audrey Bacon on May 25, 1938 at Minneapolis, MN.  Two children were born to this union. They moved to Paynesville and purchased the bakery in October of 1939. They owned and operated Young’s Bakery until they sold it to their daughter Carolyn and her husband on January 1, 1970.  Paynesville has been his home since that time.  Mrs. Young died on November 27, 1996.

Mr. Young serve one term on the Paynesville City Council and was a Volunteer Firemen with the Paynesville Volunteer Fire Department for many years where he served as Fire Chief part of that time. He was an avid private pilot who loved to fly and also took care of the Paynesville Airport for many years. 

He is survived by: his children, Carolyn Welter of Paynesville, MN, and Glenn (Ethel) Young of Litchfield, MN, five grandchildren, Mike (Jenny) Welter of Champlin, MN, Mark (Sharla) Welter of Ellendale, ND, Dan (Julie) Welter of Plymouth, MN, Evonne Young of Mendota Heights, MN and Pete (Tija) Young of Waverly, MN, six great-grandchildren and two on the way.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by: one grandson Matthew Young, one brother Ernie Young and two sisters, Helen Young and Marie Bartz.

Memorial are preferred in lieu of flowers to the Paynesville Senior Dinning, Paynesville Rose Center or to the organization of the donors choice.
