Alan Joseph Svejkovsky

November 20, 1959 – November 14, 2025

To know Alan was to love Alan and be loved by Alan. If you were that person, you were blessed. We all count ourselves as one of those lucky people. He was your biggest fan, and you always felt heard by Alan. He always had your back. He was truly the best friend that anyone could ever hope for.

Alan was one of the most generous people to walk the planet. He may not have had much but you could depend on him to be there to help in any way he could, be it with physical strength (in his younger years), sage advice, or a kind word. He gave freely and was a trusted friend and sibling, father, companion and neighbor-a genuinely amazing human. But we that were close to him were probably biased. He wouldn’t give it a second thought to give the shirt off his back.  And he did that for so many over the years.

Alan, much like our dad, didn’t know a stranger.  Everyone he met was his new best buddy and I would say many felt that way about him too.

Through his philanthropic works volunteering or helping out a neighbor -he would often do this by asking them to help him so that he could give them cash for a job well done without breaking their spirit or embarrassing them, well, that was just the way he was.  Surely all the foster families he helped over the years would agree.

You have never known anyone that was more of an optimist than Alan. Faced with any number of bad turns or luck in his life or disappointment he would always find the silver lining. We like to fancy ourselves a PollyAnna too, but he beat anyone hands down! And may we add Alan was the best hugger on the planet! We will miss those hugs.

It’s no secret Alan was our favorite. Truth be told, he was probably many people’s favorite.  He had that magnetism. Alan was lovable, he was affable and just an all-around good guy that you wanted to be around- that you wanted in your life. If he was, you were blessed.

Was he perfect? No. Was he flawed? Absolutely. But aren’t we all.

His positive traits far out weighted the negatives. He made amends in his heart for those that hurt him over the years and atoned deeply for those he hurt. If you didn’t get to fix it on your end before he left us, he fixed it on his end and is at peace with you.

We all now have the best guardian angel ever. We are in good hands.

Alan, we love you and you will be sorely missed. We will miss our long phone calls where we solved all the world’s problems and laughed hysterically at the weirdness of current day events. Alan loved to share with us his favorite memes, TicTok reels and Youtube music videos. I’m sure we will forever hear in our head his infectious laugh and voice.

Thank you for being the best brother to us all.  Thank you for sharing your heart with us and loving us. Wherever you are we hope you are golfing again, are pain free and ambulatory and beating dad at cribbage- tell him we all knew he was a card counter.

Alan is survived by his children, Justin Svejkovsky (AZ) and Trisha Svejkovsky (AZ), siblings Mark (Jackie) Svejkovsky (MN), Carla (Art) Debernarde (TX), Gayle (Bob) Sedey (MN), Lisa (Jon) Schaeffer (GA) and Jan Johnson (MN).

I have your last message on my phone & when I need a smile I’ll play it😊 You will be missed forever! We love you so much, & we will be looking for you when we get to heaven😘😘😘

Lowell and I are very saddened to hear this news. Just one memory I have is when all the guys and me were rolling the boat and trailer into the garage and my foot got run over. AJ was so caring and sweet to me. He immediately ‘ran’ to his apt to get a bag of frozen peas. 🥰 I will remember his big teddy bear hugs, his smile that made his eyes twinkle, the way he listened and cared by looking you in the eye. Just to name a few. You will be missed my friend. Prayers for peace and comfort to his family!!

I will miss our many dinners together and our brunch at Jack & Jim’s for each of our birthdays. By the way, Happy Birthday my friend. I miss you everyday. I’m sure you are visiting with you Mom and Dad. I know you are at peace now and without pain. Love to you my friend till we meet again.

You will be truly missed it will seem so quiet around here not hearing you’re loud but gentle voice travel the halls ,your tips and tricks on many things .The days when you would have me smell all the new essential oils you would get that I could not smell anymore 🤣or laugh at the crazie things /people we seen here .I send much love to you’re family because loosing you is a huge loss😢
