Alberta R. "Berta" Garding

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Marty (Pearl Lake) for Alberta R. “Berta” Garding, age 64 of St. Joseph who passed on Friday, January 27, 2012 at the Country Manor Health Center in Sartell after a courageous battle with cancer. Reverend Ralph Zimmerman will officiate. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery.
Family and friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud and after 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday at the church in Marty. Parish prayers will be at 7:00 on Monday at the funeral home in St. Cloud.
Berta was born on January 4, 1948 in Bloomington, Illinois to Albert and Margaret (Lioce) Renzo. She has lived in the St. Cloud area since 1978. Berta married Elmer J. Garding on April 30, 1983 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, St. Joseph. She was employed by Bernick’s Pepsi for over 20 years until her retirement in 2007. Berta volunteered at Madison Elementary School.
Berta was a mother and grandmother to everyone. She enjoyed cross stitching, traveling and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her children, Joey Lang of St. Joseph, Margie (Tim) Buttweiler of St. Cloud and Jeron of St. Joseph; five grandchildren, Bryce, Kylee, Hayle, Hudson and Bella; brothers, John of Allendale, New Jersey and Tom of Hawthorne, New Jersey, Joe of Palm Coast, Florida and Albert of Highland Lakes, New Jersey; sisters, Maria Kirkilas of Hinsdale, Illinois, Joyce Marie Alvelo of Allendale, New Jersey.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Elmer on April 15, 2002.
Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers.
