Allen "AL" Schleicher

A burial service with full military honors was held for Al Schleicher who died Friday, April 18, 2025. Services took place on May 17, 2025, at the St. Joseph Catholic Church Parish Cemetery in St. Joseph, MN.
Allen “Al” A. Schleicher was born in Albany, Minnesota to Erwin Schleicher and Rose (Gaspers) Schleicher on April 19, 1950. Al attended Albany High School and went into the United States Army in 1968 at age 18. Al valiantly and proudly served the United States Army during the Vietnam War.

Following his time spent in the Army, Al married his high school sweetheart Carol Barrett on August 9, 1975. Al and Carol welcomed two children into the world: their daughter, Julie in 1976 and their son, Jesse in 1980. Al was a dedicated family man and prided himself on quality time spent with his children and wife.

Al had the work ethic that was similar to that of a Clydesdale; meaning, when Al set his mind to do something, it was certain to get done, no matter the time spent problem solving. Al was a conservationist and sportsman, and he spent his free time fishing with Carol and hunting with his best friend and brother, Doug. Al and Doug spent countless hours in the woods, on a boat, and prairies hunting together and modeling on their children ethical, respectful sportsmanship.

Preceding Al in death were his wife and soulmate, Carol; his mother, Rose and his father, Erwin; and his two sisters Cindy Schleicher and Marty Bachler (Schleicher).

Al is survived by his children Julie Schleicher of St. Joseph, Jesse (Molly) Schleicher of Monticello; his sisters Ardis (Ron) Muellner of Albany and Sandy (Neil) Leider of Farming; his brother Doug (Karen) Schleicher of Fergus Falls; and his nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers and cards, the family asks that you spend time in nature, where Al would often find himself most at home.
