Alma M. Pierskalla

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 16, 2012 at St. Columbkille Catholic Church in St. Wendel for Alma M. Pierskalla, age 92, of St. Wendel, who passed away with her family at her side on Saturday, August 11, 2012 at the St. Cloud Hospital. Reverend Gregory Mastey will officiate. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery.

Family and friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Joseph and one hour prior to services on Thursday at the church in St. Wendel. Parish prayers will be held at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home in St. Joseph.

Alma was born on March 25, 1920 in Avon, Minnesota to Stanley and Mary (Landowski) Rudnicki. She married Emmanuel E. Pierskalla on October 18, 1938 in St. Wendel, Minnesota. She lived in St. Wendel all of her life. She was involved in foster care and was employed by X-Cel Optical for over 22 years. She was a member of St. Columbkille Catholic Church and Christian Mothers.

She enjoyed life.

Alma is survived by her children, Charlotte Mick of Rockville, Aggie (Larry) Traut of Sartell, Sharon Kostreba of Holdingford, Elaine (Jerry) Barrett of Sartell; 20 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren; sisters, Ann Jonas of Avon, Helen Asplund of Rush City, and Martha Holiday of Hopkins.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1999; one son, David in 1999; and daughter, Evelyn in 1955; and three brothers and two sisters.
