Al married Alice Mary Torborg on October 29, 1955, at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, in Richmond. Minnesota. They had seven children together: Joe (Kathy), Waunakee, WI; Mary, South Saint Paul; John, Little Falls; Kathy McLaughlin (Fran), Maple Grove; Terry (Tamara), Minneapolis; Mark (Barbara), Portland, OR; and Mike (Kathy), Golden Valley. Al lived for his family and enjoyed many friends. He passed on to his family his faith and an appreciation of nature. He taught them how to value family and to love, and showed them the importance of hard work and having fun.

Al died as the result of a brain hemorrhage following a fall while taking his daily walk. Alice and family, We are so very sorry to hear of Al’s passing. We lived around the corner in the Centennial Addition and always appreciated Al taking our leaves in the fall for his orchard up north. He always made time for us at church breakfasts and we would chat with him when he’d walk by the house. He was a really special guy.

May you feel God’s loving presence as you grieve the loss of your dear dad. My love and prayers are with you and your family.

We fondly remember all the good times we had with Al, Alice and John as we played many card games. Al was a real “trooper” on the trip we took together to BWCA. He and John were always first to arrive at each portage.
We are keeping all of you in our thoughts and prayers during this most difficult time.
Marge & Bruce Rakow

Lauer Family,
I am sorry for your loss. I pray God’s peace for all of you in this time of mourning. At the same time, I hope there is celebrating as well as you remember many good times with your dad.

Dean Jennissen (Friend of Mike and Mark at Staples High)

The thoughts and prayers of the Bisek deer camp are with all of the Lauer family. We will always remember Al’s friendly smile as he greeted us at church or when we stopped to visit. We always enjoyed hearing his stories, but also appreciated the interest he took in how things were going on our side of the creek. While we are sad to hear of his passing, he has left behind a great legacy.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you, John, and all of your family. May the wonderful memories of your father help you get through this difficult time. Georgia, John and Andy Kretschmar
