Alvin P. "Pete" Schreifels
June 17, 1918 – October 5, 2011

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, October 10, 2011 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Waite Park for Alvin P. “Pete” Schreifels, age 93 of Waite Park who passed away on Wednesday, October 5, 2011 at the St. Cloud Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Reverend Vincent Lieser will officiate. Burial will take place with military honors at the parish cemetery in Waite Park.
Family and friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday and after 9:00 a.m. on Monday at the Daniel Funeral Home, St. Cloud. Parish prayers will be at 5:00 p.m. followed by the Waite Park American Legion Silver Star Post #428 ritual at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home in St. Cloud.
Pete was born on June 17, 1918 in Cold Spring, Minnesota to John and Elizabeth (Fink) Schreifels. He married Marcella Arnzen on January 27, 1940 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in St. Cloud. Pete was a U. S. Army Veteran of WWII serving in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater and was awarded the Bronze Star Medal. He was employed as a mechanic by Arnold’s Equipment for many years retiring in 1980. Pete was a member of St. Joseph’s Parish, The Waite Park American Legion Silver Star Post #428 and the St. Cloud Veterans of Foreign Wars Granite Post #428.
Survivors include his children, Patricia (Ben) Schwinghammer of Avon, Dorothy (Gary) Burton of Las Vegas, Nevada, Dave (Jan) of Pillager; seven grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; and sister, Rosemary Henkel of Luxemburg.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Marcella; brothers, Alphonse, LeRoy and Aloys; sisters, Eleanor Schotl and Viola Fruth.
Pete’s family would like to thank the staff of the St. Cloud Veterans Affairs Medical Center for his exceptional care.
Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers.
