Alvina M. Hansen

Mass of Christian Burial celebrating the life of Alvina M. Hansen, 97 of St. Cloud will be at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, December 10, 2008 at St. John Cantius Catholic Church in St. Cloud. Alvina passed away on Friday, December 5th at Ridgeview Assisted Living in Sauk Rapids. Rev. Peter VanderWeyst will officiate. Burial will be in Assumption Cemetery, St. Cloud. Visitation will be between 9:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud.

Alvina was born on January 1, 1911 in New Munich, Minnesota to George and Christine (Rieland) Metzger. She married Leo A. Hansen on June 9, 1936 at St. Mary’s Cathedral in St. Cloud. She lived all of her married life in St. Cloud and was an active member of St. John Cantius Parish and Rosary Sodality and the Legion of Mary for nine years. Alvina was a perpetual member of the Franciscan Order and of the Crosier Apostolate since 1982. She also made 40 retreats at King’s House in Buffalo.

The love of Alvina’s life was her husband, Leo, and she dedicated her life to her family. She had class, style, loved animals and had a generous heart. Alvina was loved and admired by many.

She is survived by her children, Marilyn Cruser of St. Cloud, Bev Schreiner of Alexandria, Tom (Linda) of Dallas, TX, Jerry of Dallas, TX, Sherry Hansen of Minneapolis, Mary Jane (Fred) Heinen of Lakeville, Barbara Hansen of Bloomington, Judy Hansen of St. Cloud; 16 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leo in 1977; four great grandchildren; and eight siblings.

Mass Offerings are preferred in lieu of flowers.
