Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 7, 2009 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in St. Joseph for Anna E. Laing, age 93, of St. Joseph. Anna passed away on July 1, 2009 at the Country Manor in Sartell. Reverend Roger Botz, OSB will officiate. Burial will take place in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Freeport, MN.
Friends may call after 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday at the church in St. Joseph. Arrangements are with the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Joseph.
Anna was born on April 10, 1916 in Krain Township, Stearns County to John and Anna (Sadlowsky) Christen. She married Richard G. Laing on August 8, 1939 at St. Hedwigs Catholic Church in Holdingford. They lived in Freeport until 1966 then moved to St. Joseph.
She was a member of St. Joseph’s Parish, Catholic Women Society, Burlington Northern Santa Fe Veterans Association, and St. Joseph’s Senior Citizens.
Anna enjoyed baking cookies, dancing, walking and visiting with friends, and attending church. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family.
Survivors include her children, Richard L. (Marilyn) of Sioux City IA, Shirle (Thomas) Hiltner of Melrose; 6 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Rose Christen and Esther Prom.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard G. in 1990; parents, John and Anna; brothers, John, Ernest, Paul, Ben, Harold, Harry; sisters, Rose, Martha, and Alma.
