Arlyiss E. Rien
December 30, 1924 – June 2, 2008

Memorial services will be on Monday, June 9, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at Grace United Methodist Church in Paynesville for Arlyiss E. Rien, age 83 of Paynesville who passed away on Monday, June 2, 2008 at the Koronis Manor in Paynesville. Reverend Ric Koehn will officiate. Private inurnment will be in Zion Cemetery, Paynesville.
Family and friends may call one hour prior to the services at the church on Monday. Arrangements were by the Daniel-Anderson Funeral Home, Paynesville.
Arlyiss was born on December 30, 1924 in Lake Henry Township, Stearns County, Minnesota to Frank and Orpha (Wood) Beier. She grew up in Regal and attended School District #115. Arlyiss married Urban W. Rien on November 18, 1942 at the Evangelical United Brethren Church in Paynesville. Four children were born to this union. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and Naomi Circle; she also served as a Sunday school teacher. Arlyiss and Urban were instrumental in starting the annual Chow Mein Supper. She was also a member of the Homemakers Club and she was a leader of the Zion Boosters 4-H Club.
Arlyiss enjoyed gardening and flowers, she’ll be remembered as a great cook.
Survivors include her children, Linda (Alvin) Isdahl of Starbuck, Sandra Nehring of St. Cloud, Joan “Jo” Lorntson of Bloomington, Illinois and Larry (Denise) of Paynesville; 11 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren and brother, Robert of Ray City, Georgia.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Urban on February 14, 1999; brother, Frank Jr. his wife, Jean and their daughter, Letty.
