Bernard A. "Ben" Vossen

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 5, 2013 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Waite Park for Bernard A. “Ben” Vossen, age 86 of St. Cloud and formerly of Waite Park who passed away on Sunday, June 2, 2013 at St. Benedict’s Senior Community. Reverend Joseph Backowski will officiate. Burial will take place at St. Nicholas Parish Cemetery, St. Nicholas.

Family and friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday and after 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud. Parish prayers will be at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home in St. Cloud.

Bernard was born on March 9, 1927 in Watkins, Minnesota to John and Katherine (Statz) Vossen. He married Thrasilla K. Lahr on May 10, 1950 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in St. Nicholas. The couple farmed near Watkins until their retirement in 1980 and moved to Waite Park. They moved to Benedict Village in 2000 and lived at St. Benedict’s Senior Community since 2009.

Bernard is survived by his children, Dianna (Dan Fink) of Monticello, Margaret (Mark Adams) Vossen of Isanti, Barbara (Duane) Good of St. Augusta, Peter (Jan) of Watkins, Louis (Marietta) of Paynesville, Leonard (Judy) of St. Joseph, Norbert of Big Lake, Rose (Rick) Ficker of St. Cloud and Brian (Kelly) of South Haven; 14 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; and brother, Elmer of Cold Spring.

He was preceded in death by his wife, on November 7, 2011; grandson, Randy Vossen; brothers, Frank, Leo, Herman, Richard and Eugene; and sister, Margaret Vincent.

Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers.
