Betty L. Schoonover (Schindler)

January 21, 1934 – July 17, 2024

Betty L. Schoonover (Schindler), age 90, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 17, 2024 at Ridgeview Place Senior Living Memory Care surrounded by her family.

Mass of Christian Burial celebrating the life of Betty L. Schoonover (Schindler) age 90 of St. Cloud, will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in St. Cloud. Reverend, Derek Wiechmann will officiate.  Burial will be at Assumption Cemetery, St. Cloud.

Visitation will be held after 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday at the Church in St. Cloud. Arrangements were by Daniel Funeral Home, St. Cloud.

Betty was born on January 21, 1934 in St. Cloud to Joseph and Irene (Timmers) Miller. She was a 1952 graduate of Tech High School in St Cloud. She married Charles (Chuck) Schindler on August 2, 1952 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in St. Cloud. Together they had 10 children.

Betty kept very busy in her younger years with all her kids. She was a very good seamstress and sewed many dresses and outfits for special occasions for her girls. She was a wonderful cook and baker and passed that skill down to all her children, including her boys. She also worked part time waitressing, bartending, retail and secretarial positions throughout her life.

As Betty aged, she loved traveling, history and museums. She enjoyed golf, a good game of pool and board games. She did the crossword puzzle in the newspaper every day. She loved getting out and going to music venues and baseball games with her daughter Michele. Betty was an avid Twins and Vikings fan. Most of all, her favorite thing to do was to attend family gatherings throughout the years.

She is survived by her 10 children, Bruce (Jaci) Schindler, Debbie (Larry) Klein, Nancy (Bob) Walden, Karen (Tom) Gross, Michele (David) Schwinghammer, Cindy (Jim) Ricci, Laurie (Rob) Schmidt, John (Shawn) Schindler, Ann (Jeff) Ricci, Jim Schindler; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; siblings, Jack (Jackie) Miller, Roger (Renee) Miller, Marilyn (Dick) Post; Brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bill and Dorothy Schindler.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles (Chuck) Schindler in 1975; grandson, Charles (Charlie) Schmidt in 2003; her parents Joseph and Irene Miller; parents in-laws, Joseph and Bertha Schindler; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Lee and Peggy Harren.
