Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 25, 2026 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in St. Joseph for Carol Joan R. Mastey, age 80, of Sartell, who passed away on Wednesday, August 19, 2026 at Edgewood Assisted Living in Sartell. Reverend Bradley Jenniges, OSB will officiate. Burial will be in the St. Joseph Parish Cemetery in St. Joseph.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Monday, August 24, 2026 and from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service on Tuesday, all at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church Heritage Hall in St. Joseph. Recitation of the Most Holy Rosary will be held at 3:30 p.m. followed by parish prayers at 4:00 p.m., both on Monday at Heritage Hall.
Carol was born on February 19, 1946 to Robert and Theresia (Rosen) Goebel in St. Cloud, Minnesota. She was united in marriage to Marvin J. Mastey on December 31, 1966 in Freeport. Together, they farmed in the Foley area for 17 years. Carol worked as a Dietary Aid for St. Benedict’s Monastery in St. Joseph for 22 years and at Good Shepherd’s Nursing Home in Sauk Rapids for 10 years. Carol was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church where she enjoyed giving of her time and talents by volunteering as a Eucharistic Minister, Usher/Greeter and assisted the Knights of Columbus with their services. She was also a dedicated member of the St. Joseph Community, where she and Marvin served as the King and Queen of St. Joseph for one year.
She is survived by her children, BarbaraLee (Dean) Malikowski of Foley, Kevin (Paula) of Deland, FL, Walter of St. Paul, Theresa (Chris) Lalim of St. Stephen; 10 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren, with two on the way; siblings, Melvin (Karen), Shirley Wohletz, Dorine (Jerry) Voit, Kenny (Irene), and Marvin (Edna); sister-in-law, Ardell Goebel; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Marvin; brother, LaVern Goebel and brother-in-law, Auggie Wohletz.
A special thank you to the staff of Edgewood Assisted Living and St. Croix Hospice for their loving and compassionate care of Carol.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
