Catherine M. Schroden

Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday, July 31st at 10:00 AM at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in St. Cloud for Catherine M. Schroden, age 82, of St. Cloud, who died on Monday at the Assumption Nursing Home in Cold Spring. Rev. Matthew Kuhn will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call on Friday between 4:00-8:00 PM at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud and on Saturday one hour prior to services at the church. Parish Prayers will be at 5:30 PM.

Catherine was born October 13, 1927 near St. Joseph to Max and Margaret (Sand) Meyer. She married Albert Schroden on August 17, 1949 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in St. Joseph. She and her husband Albert lived and farmed in St. Cloud Township for most of her married life. Catherine was a resident of the Assumption Home in Cold Spring for the past four years. She was a charter member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church and later also a charter member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church.

Catherine was active in many volunteer activities with her home parish, St. Michael’s, including sacristan for 25 years, bazaar chairperson, and mission group. Other community organizations include Catholic Order of Foresters, Knights of Columbus Council 5548 Auxiliary and School Kindergarten grandma for Sts. Peter, Paul and Michael Elementary School.

Catherine’s favorite activities were playing with her grandchildren, baking cookies and wedding cakes and sewing.

Survivors include her husband Albert, children, Jerry Schroden (Char) St. Joseph, Ralph Schroden (Mary) St. Joseph, Thomas Schroden (Renee) Holdingford, Mary Blonigen (Roman) Sauk Rapids, Julie Watkins (Albert) St. Joseph, Allan Schroden (Pamela) Fergus Falls, and Mark Schroden (Tammy) St. Joseph, grandchildren, Randy, Rick, Peter, Bob, Francis, Natasha and Rebecca Schroden, Daniel, Gregory, Emily and Hannah Blonigen, Shawn and Ashley Watkins, Christi Krippner and Kim Lutz, great-grandchildren, Michael, Sarah, Max, Alana and Sam Schroden and Chloe Blonigen, brothers, Leander and Roman Meyer of St. Joseph, and sister Marcella Roe of Grey Eagle.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Cyril Meyer and great granddaughter April Schroden.

Memorials are preferred.
