Clarence J. "Butch" Stang, Jr.

May 21, 1945 – April 1, 2013

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. on Friday, April 5, 2013 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in St. Cloud for Clarence J. “Butch” Stang, Jr., age 67 of St. Cloud who passed away on Monday, April 1, 2013 at North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale. Reverend Thomas Knoblach will officiate. Inurnment with military honors will take place at Assumption Cemetery, St. Cloud.
Family and friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud and after 9:30 a.m. on Friday at the church. Parish prayers will be at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home in St. Cloud.
Butch was born on May 21, 1945 in St. Cloud, Minnesota to Clarence and Mathilda (Kraemer) Stang, Sr. He married Cheryl Pikus on August 31, 1965 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Sartell. Butch served his country in the U.S. Army as a Paratrooper serving in Germany during the Vietnam War. He was employed by International Paper in Sartell for 38 years retiring as a Maintenance Supervisor in 2002. After retirement Butch drove school bus for St. Cloud School District #742. He was a member of Holy Spirit Parish, Knights of Columbus Council #12098 and St. Cloud Eagle Aerie #622.
Butch is survived by his wife, Cheryl; sons, Shawn (Sue) of St. Cloud and Scott, Sr. (Mariel) of Glenwood; eight grandchildren, Cassondra “Cassy” Preusser, Brian Preusser, Hope Koscielniak, Johnathan Stang, Ashley Stang, Joshua Stang, Trevor Stang, and Scott Stang, Jr.; brothers and sisters, Beverly (Floyd) Lehnen of St. Cloud, Robert (Jane) of St. Cloud, Jerry (Marti) of Clear Lake, Howard (Sue) of St. Cloud, Ken (Marlene Walz) of Sartell, and Jeanette (Ron) Greener of St. Cloud.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and daughter, Candace Jacobson on January 11, 2010.
Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers.
