Darrel L. Pexsa
November 14, 1928 – May 17, 2013

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, May 24, 2013 at the Minnesota State Veteran’s Cemetery at Little Falls, MN for Darrel Lawrence Pexsa age 84 of Miltona, MN who died on Friday, May 17, 2013 at the VA Medical Center in Fargo, ND. Pastor Kirk Lee of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Parkers Prairie will officiate.
Darrel was born on November 14, 1928, the son of Lloyd F. and Anna (Noetzelmen) Pexsa at Spruce Hill Township, Douglas County, MN. He attended country school in Spruce Hill Township and helped on the family farm. As a young man he worked for many area farmers and also in North Dakota for a time.
He was inducted into the United States Army on January 17, 1951 at Fort Riley, KS. He then served his country as a cook at a base in Alaska. He was discharged from active duty on April 26, 1952.
He was united in marriage on September 25, 1951 to Marlys Mary Kuhne at St. Williams Catholic Church at Parkers Prairie. Five children including twin daughters were born to this union. After he completed his time in the service they made their home in Spruce Hill Township, Douglas County, MN where he farmed until 1998. He has called the farm his home since that time.
Darrel was proud of the fact that he owned the first self-propelled combine in the area. He used his combine extensively to help area farmers with their harvest. Darrel was also an avid Deer Hunter hosting many hunting parties on his farm over the years.
He was a long time member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Parkers Prairie, MN.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Marlys one son Donald, one grandson Jason Dean Pexsa and one brother LeRoy Pexsa.
He is survived by his four children, Denise (Richard) Klein of Carlos, MN, Diane Davies of Minneapolis, MN, Bert (Kathy) Pexsa of Miltona, MN and Edwin Pexsa of Alexandria, MN, 8 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren, one sister Sonja Lillquist of Detroit Lakes, MN, and Merl (Charlotte) Pexsa of Parkers Prairie, MN other relatives and many friends.
