Darrell G. Riley

Darrell G. Riley passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 21, 2009 with his beloved Clara (56 years), Kathy Riley (sister, St. Cloud) and family at his bedside. He is also survived by his brother, Garrett (Shari) Riley of Moorpark, CA; children; Bonnie Stoeve of Mission Viejo, CA, Timothy (Joy) of Duluth, Rick (Kathy) of New Hope, Cheryl (Duane) Schaefer of St. Cloud, Callee (Alan) Riley-Francis of Great Falls, MT; 15 grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and many god-children, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Cyril and Vivian (Gregory) Riley and an infant brother, Donald.

Darrell’s gregarious nature served him well in many endeavors; Franklin Mfg., H&S Shoes, JC Penney, Benusa TV and Miller Home Improvement were companies that enjoyed his employ. His avocations; drawing, woodworking, handyman but his love of hunting and fishing were his favorites.

Darrell fought a roller coaster 30 year battle with Bi-polar, a dignified five years with Dementia but it was a short courageous battle with lung cancer that ended his life.

Thank you to Dr. Dean Watkins, Dr. Doug Watkins, Heartland Hospice, Sterling Park Senior Community and Staffs for making Darrell’s last year and months enjoyable.

Dad will be greatly missed by Bonnie, Timmy, Ricky, Cheri and Callee. They ask that you join them in celebration of Darrell’s life. Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers to the; American Cancer Society or Centra-Care Foundation-Behavioral Health.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, July 24, 2009 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in St. Cloud. Rev. Greg Lieser will officiate. Inurnment will be in Calvary Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud and one hour prior to services on Friday at the church. Parish prayers will be held at 6:00 p.m.  Thursday at the funeral home.
