Dona M. Wilmes

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 3, 2011 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Sartell for Dona M. Wilmes, age 86, of Sartell. Dona passed away August 31, 2011 at the Quiet Oaks Hospice House with family at her side. Entombment will take place in the Assumption Cemetery Mausoleum in St. Cloud.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Friday (TODAY) and after 10 a.m. on Saturday at the St. Francis Xavier gathering space in Sartell. St. Monica’s Christian Women will pray at 6 p.m. followed by Parish Prayers at 7 p.m. on Friday.

Dona was born August 6, 1925 in St. Cloud, one of eleven children of Ed and Helen (Konz) Schnettler. She married Fran Wilmes on June 16, 1948 at St. Mary’s Cathedral in St. Cloud. Dona and Fran recently celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary. Dona enjoyed long walks in “Mother Nature”, gardening, sewing, dancing, fishing trips with Fran and friends, and traveling to visit her children and grandchildren. She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, St. Monica’s Christian Women and Crosier Apostolate.

Dona is survived by her loving husband Fran of Sartell, sons James (Deborah) of White Bear Lake, John (Vianna) of Roundup, MT and Craig (Jovita) of Modesto, CA and daughter Janet (Tom) of Durango, CO, three grandchildren Ted, Katie and Grace, and siblings Devota Aigner, Geraldine Johnson, Irene Billig, Ed Schnettler, Carol Allen and Helen Schnettler.

Preceding her in death were her parents, siblings Marianne McCann, Lylie Hockert, Margaret McKeon and John Schnettler.

The family would like to thank the staff of the following facilities for their compassionate care; Legends of Heritage Place, Centra-Care Hospice and Quiet Oaks Hospice House.

Memorials are preferred to the Crosier Apostolate.
