Donald H. "Don" Neutgens

Mass of Christian Burial celebrating the life of Donald H. “Don” Neutgens, 76, of St. Cloud will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 28, 2009 at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church in St. Cloud. Don passed away on Wednesday, November 25, 2009 at the St. Cloud Hospital with his family at his side. Rev.  Anthony Oelrich, Rev. Aaron Kuhn and Rev. Luke Steiner, OSB will con-celebrate. Burial will be in St. Lawrence Parish Cemetery, Duelm.

Family and friends may call between 4:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. on Friday at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud and after 10:00 a.m. on Saturday at the church. Parish prayers will be held at 6:00 p.m. followed by the Eastside V.F.W. Post #4847 at 6:30 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.

Don was born on July 28, 1933 in Eden Valley, Minnesota to Bernard “Ben” and Anna (Tschumperlin) Neutgens. He graduated from Cathedral High School in 1951 and served in the U.S. Army from 1954-1956 in Korea and was Honorably Discharged from the Reserves in 1962. Don married Rose C. Winkelman on November 27, 1957 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Duelm. They lived in St. Cloud most of their married lives. Don was employed as a service technician at Ron’s Radio and TV and later at Sears for 30 years. He was a member of St. Augustine’s Parish, the Eastside V.F.W. Post #4847, Waite Park American Legion Post #428, and the St. Cloud Eagle’s Aerie #622.

Don enjoyed spending time with family and friends at the cabin, often fishing. He loved playing cards (500), deer hunting and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was lovingly known by family and friends as the “Super Serviceman.”

Don is survived by his wife, Rose of St. Cloud; children, Sandra (John) Swanson of Scandia, Chris (Rolf) Bolstad of Minneapolis, Therese (Nedjo) Spaic of Palmer, AK, Kurt (Nancy) of Kansas City, MO, Kevin (Lisa) of New Berlin, WI; grandchildren, Ana, Marija, Katarina, Tomo, Tatjana, Luka and Sofija Spaic, Trent Neutgens, and Isaiah, Tyler Rose, Corbin and Shane Neutgens; sister, Mary Jane Krutchen of Crosby; and many nieces and nephews.
