Dorine H. Jacobson

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 28, 2012 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in St. Cloud for Dorine H. Jacobson, age 80, of St. Cloud. Dorine passed away April 23, 2012 at Mercy Hospital in Anoka. Entombment will take place in Assumption Cemetery in St. Cloud.

Relatives and friends may call from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, April 27 at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud. Parish Prayers will be at 5 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.

Dorine was born April 9, 1932 in Buckman Township, Morrison County, MN to Alois and Regina (Hurrle) Zenner. She had fond memories of her early days on the farm. She later moved to St. Cloud where she attended St. Mary’s Grade School and St. Cloud Cathedral High School. She married John Jacobson on October 27, 1953 at St. Mary’s Cathedral in St. Cloud. She lived in St. Cloud most of her married life where she raised her family.

Dorine loved music, from the Minnesota Orchestra concerts at St. Benedict’s to pop artist concerts in the Twin Cities. She also loved to travel, especially long car trips in which she went to 33 states, making several trips even after suffering a stroke. She fought through several serious illnesses before finally losing her battle with a major infection. Dorine never had a negative word about anyone or anything. She would always say “They tried their best.”

Dorine is survived by her husband John, children Maureen Overman, Mark (Diana) Jacobson, Linda (Michael) Hassman and Elizabeth Jacobson, three grandchildren Christina (Scott) Larson, Brittany Hassman and Brooks Hassman, siblings Lambert “Larry” (Virginia) Zenner and LaVerne Justin, sister-in-law Rose Zenner and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents and her brother Wilfred “Bill” Zenner.

Dorine’s family would like to extend their gratitude to Park River Estates Care Center in Coon Rapids and Mercy Hospital for their kind and efficient care.
