Dorothy A. Hebert

April 30, 1928 – January 1, 2024

The funeral Mass for Dorothy Anne Hebert, age 95 of St. Cloud will be at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, January 9, 2024 at St. Mary’s Cathedral (Lower Church) in St. Cloud, MN with visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. The Reverend Doug Liebsch and Reverend Alan Wielinski will concelebrant. Burial will be at 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, January 10, 2024 at Hope Catholic Cemetery at Chippewa Falls, WI, with assistance from Horan Funeral Home in Chippewa Falls, WI.

Dorothy was born to Charles and Exilda (LeDuc) Hebert on April 30, 1928 in Chippewa Falls, WI. She grew up on a dairy farm in rural Chippewa Falls and graduated in 1945 from McDonell Memorial High School. She is 1949 graduate of the College of St. Benedict in St. Joseph, MN and held a Bachelor of Science degree in Home Economics. After teaching for eight years in Wisconsin, she moved to St. Cloud in 1957 to work for Northern States Power as a home economist. She retired from NSP in 1988 as a consumer service representative.

Dorothy was a member of St. Mary’s Cathedral and sang in the choir for 40 years. She was an Oblate of St. Benedict and a member of the Daughters of Isabella. For many years, she made weekly trips to the Saint Scholastica Convent in St. Cloud and read to the elderly or infirm sisters who resided there. She volunteered with the Stearns County History Museum and the St. Cloud Convention and Visitors Bureau. Proud of her heritage, she was a member of the French-Canadian Society. Dorothy was a member of the Minnesota Business and Professional Women and served a term as state president in 1977 and 1978.

Dorothy loved to travel. From cross-country trips as a youngster with her beloved father to vacations to Europe and Canada and Australia, she had many adventures which she fondly recounted. She dearly loved her family and kept detailed records of their history that reach back to the first decade of the 18th century.

Dorothy is survived by; her nephew, Frank Hebert of Chippewa Falls, WI; niece Kathryn Shefland of Big Lake, MN; niece-in-law Kathy Hebert of Chippewa Falls, WI; and several great nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by; her brother, Francis Hebert; and her sister, Lucille Hendrickson.

I knew Dorothy when she volunteered at the Stearns History Museum. She was so kind, nice, and lovely. What a wonderful world it would be if everybody was like Dorothy!
