Douglas J. Butkowski

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, December 9, 2010 at St. Marcus Catholic Church in Clear Lake for Douglas J. Butkowski, age 64 of Saint Cloud who passed away peacefully after his battle with brain cancer on Monday, December 6, 2010 at the St. Cloud Hospital with family members by his side. Reverend Virgil Helmin will officiate. Entombment will take place at the Hilltop Mausoleum in Sauk Rapids.

Family and friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday (TODAY) at the Daniel Funeral Home, Saint Cloud and after 9:30 a.m. on Thursday at the church in Clear Lake. Parish prayers will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home in St. Cloud.

Douglas was born on May 30, 1946 in Fergus Falls, MN to Leander and Margaret Butkowski. They moved to Saint Cloud and Douglas graduated from Saint Cloud Tech High School. Douglas was united in marriage to Ruth Golembeski on September 28, 1968 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sauk Rapids. He was employed at IMI Cornelius in Anoka for 38 years as a Manufacturing Engineer. He then worked part-time at Cash Wise as a Maintenance Worker. Doug enjoyed doing many activities, he ushered at his church and he loved working in his wood shop always working on many projects. He also enjoyed spending time with his family. Doug was always willing to help out when needed.

Doug is survived by his wife, Ruth; children, Paul (Kelly) Butkowski of Sauk Rapids, Eric (Nicole) Butkowski of Saint Cloud and Stacy (Nathan) Paulson of Brooten; grandchildren; Brooke and Tara Butkowski, Jack and Owen Paulson, Tytus and Rula Butkowski; brothers, Bob (Judy) of Sauk Rapids, Allen (Suzanne) of Sartell, Gary (Val) of Saint Cloud, Gene (Sue) of Rice, Brian and Joel (Jennifer) of Saint Cloud and many nieces & nephews.

Douglas was preceded in death by his father on December 6, 1995; mother, on August 16, 2006; brother, Mark on August 28, 2007; and infant sister, Barbara.

The family would like to give a special thanks to the Mayo Clinic, Coborn Cancer Center and the Saint Cloud Hospital for providing excellent care during this difficult time.
