So sorry to hear of Dr. Henry’s passing. I was his assistant when he was at Marian University (then Marian College). He was a great leader and Marian benefitted greatly from his presidency. May he rest in peace.

Requiescat in pace

My sympathy to the Henry family. I worked for Ed at the Center for the Study of Local Government at St. John’s. He was a wise, caring, and compassionate leader to us all. When he left for St. Mary’s, he left a great hole that could not be filled. It was my great loss that I did not have more time to work for Ed.

Dear Mary and family,
My sympathy to you and your family. May God’s loving presence in friends and family bring you comfort and bless you with cherished memories.
Your classmate of St. Mary’s ’77,
Teddy

The stories I could tell about your wonderful father! I was the Student Body President his first year at SMC. He was wonderful to work with; always encouraging and that great sense of humor! And the most level headed man I’ve ever known. He taught us all by his open mindedness and non-judgmental ways. Rest in Peace dear friend and mentor. Jean Seymour SMC ’73

My sympathy to the Henry family. Your Dad took a chance on me in 1977 when I was in my late twenties and probably too young to be Dean of Students. I’m beginning my 34th year in this job at Saint Michael’s thanks to your dad. PS–your mom was a saint. Peace, Mike Samara

I was a student at Saint Mary’s and felt a special connection because I was from Minnesota too. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

I am so sorry for your loss. Dr. Henry came to Saint Mary’s College at a difficult time for the school. He did a wonderful job of leading the school forward with his kindness, willingness to listen, and foresight. It was a pleasure to know him.

I was privileged to work as the Student Assistant to the President at Saint Mary’s College from 1972-1974. I worked for Dr. Henry during the difficult years when Saint Mary’s was considering a merger with the University of Notre Dame. He was a kind and generous man, and he will be greatly missed.

My condolences to the Henry family. While at St Michael’s College I really got to know him. He was a wonderful, highly intellegent and at times very funny person. I’m so sorry to hear of his passing.

Ed was a great teacher, mentor and employer. Were it not for him we would not be in Vermont.

Our sympathy to the family.

Ed was a great teacher and mentor to me and hundreds of other young men at Saint John’s. He is one of the most highly regarded professors to have ever graced that campus. He was and is a legend. Those of us who knew him were the better for it.

Enjoyed working with Dr. Henry here in FDL, WI when he was president of Marian. He was a dedicated and wonderful man to be associated with. My sympathy to his family.

My condolences to the Henry family. Your father made tremendous contributions to St. Cloud and to higher education at various universities. We are grateful for his service. He and your mother obviously did a good job raising a wonderful family, too. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

I remember conversations with Ed in trying to reconcile the needs for metropolitan area governments against local control and New England Town Meetings. His commitment to public service was unremitting tempered with a sense of humor on the limits of human endeavors.
