Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 14, 2011 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in St. Joseph for Edmund H. Schneider, age 84, of St. Joseph, who passed away on Monday, April 11, 2011 surrounded by his family. Reverend Joseph Feders, OSB, will officiate. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery.
Family and friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 13, and after 12:00 noon on Thursday at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Joseph. Parish prayers will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Edmund was born on June 23, 1926 in Meire Grove, Minnesota to Joseph and Rosa (Kerkering) Schneider. He married Marie M. Wenker on May 4, 1954 at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Greenwald and they farmed in the Meire Grove area before moving to St. Joseph. He worked for St. Benedict’s Convent in the carpentry and maintenance shops for many years. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and Catholic United Financial.
Edmund enjoyed farming, woodworking and was an extraordinary handyman. He especially treasured spending time with all of his family.
Edmund is survived by his children, Linda (Dave) Hartung of Holdingford, Jeron Schneider (fiancée Cheri Woehler) of St. Cloud, Cindy Schneider of Albertville, Brenda (Tim) Olinger of St. Cloud, Neil Schneider of St. Joseph, and Shelly (Tim) Muske of St. Joseph; 16 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Norb (Mary Jane) Schneider, Marcie Lensing, Hub Schneider, Aly Ahmann, Clancy (Carol) Schneider and Amby (Mona) Schneider, brother-in-law Mel Meyer and sister-in-law Gloria Schneider.
Preceding him in death were his parents; wife Marie (April 2, 2011); infant daughter; grandson, Jason Hartung; brother Romie Schneider, sister Delores Meyer, brother-in-laws Bob Ahmann, Bob Meyer and John Lensing and sister-in-law MaryAnn Schneider.
