Eldred L. Gill

Mass of Christian Burial will be 2 p.m. on Tuesday, October 31, 2006 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in St. Joseph for Eldred L. Gill, age 69, of St. Joseph. Eldred died peacefully, surrounded by his family on Thursday, after a courageous battle with cancer. Burial will take place in the St. Joseph Parish Cemetery in St. Joseph.

Friends may call from 4-9 p.m. on Monday, October 30 at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Joseph. St. Joseph Senior Citizens will pray at 4:30 p.m. and Parish Prayers will be at 7:30 p.m. Visitation will continue after 12 noon on Tuesday at the funeral home.

Eldred was born February 12, 1937 in St. Wendell Township, Stearns County, MN to Edward and Elizabeth (Thomas) Gill. He married Julitta Burg on June 10, 1958 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in New Munich. He worked as a farmer and at Franklin Manufacturing, but primarily worked as an independent truck driver. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.

Eldred is survived by his wife Julitta of St. Joseph, children Duane (RoxAnn) Gill of Foley, Cheryl (Donald) Sauerer of Avon, Janice Mohr of Minneapolis, Debbie (Rick) Posa of Olathe, KS, Mary Jo (Wayne) Volkers of St. Joseph, Randy (Rhonda) Gill of Cold Spring, Lois (Byran) Birr of St. Joseph, Charles Gill of St. Joseph, Dale (Karen) Gill of Avon and Allen Gill of St. Joseph, 24 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and brothers Robert (Marcella) Gill of St. Joseph and Alvin Gill of Minneapolis.

Preceding him in death are his parents, infant son Charles, granddaughter Becky Sauerer and grandson Craig Posa.
