Eleanor A. Butts

Memorial services were private for Eleanor A. Butts, age 86 of St. Cloud who passed away on Tuesday, March 11, 2008 at the St. Cloud Hospital. Inurnment was in North Star Cemetery in St. Cloud.

Arrangements were by the Daniel Funeral Home, St. Cloud.

Eleanor was born on December 8, 1921 to Albert and Gertrude (Elsing) Neubauer in Springfield, Minnesota. She attended school in a one-room schoolhouse in Springfield and moved to Minneapolis in 1940 where she worked for Northwest Airlines as a “Rosie the Riveter”. While in Minneapolis she met Edgar Jones. They were united in marriage on June 30, 1945, in Oroville, Washington after he returned from service during WWII. They moved to Spokane, Washington and lived there until 1951 when the couple purchased a farm and moved to Comfrey. They moved to St. Cloud in 1966 where Eleanor was employed in the food services at St. Cloud State College. Edgar died in 1971, and Eleanor married Virgil Butts in May 1979. She retired in 1988 and the couple moved to Ocala, Florida until her stroke in August 1997. She relocated to Benedict Court Assisted Living in September 1997.

Eleanor loved gardening and flowers and was an expert seamstress, needle-worker and baker of pies. She treasured her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, teaching everyone about patience, optimism and wit.

She is survived by sons, Larry (Bonnie) of Reelsville, Indiana, Gary (Debbie) of Mounds View; daughter, Carol (Greg) Rupp of Sartell; grandchildren, Dr. Bri Rupp, Lexi (Scott) Maciej, Paul Jones, Mickey (Courtney) Papillon, Rachel Jones and Marie Jones; twin great grandchildren, Eliana and Siena Maciej; sister, Alice (Paul) Casey of Circle Pines and special friend, Cliff Klein.

She was preceded in death by husband, Edgar Jones; second husband, Virgil Butts; sister, Viola Neubauer, and brothers, Harley, Ervin, Bernard and Maynard Neubauer.

Memorials are preferred.
