Elmer B. Thielen

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church in St. Cloud for Elmer B. Thielen, age 93, of St. Cloud, who passed away on Friday, March 1, 2013 at the St. Cloud Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Reverend Tony Oelrich and Reverend Alfred Stangl will officiate. Burial will be at a later date.

Family and friends may call after 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday at the Church in St. Cloud. Arrangements are with the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud.

Elmer was born on November 7, 1919 in New Munich to Michael and Olivia (Humbert) Thielen.
He served his country honorably in the U. S. Army in the European Theater during World War II. Elmer married Virginia Felling on August 3, 1946 at Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church in Sauk Centre. He owned and operated Thielen Bus Service in New Munich unit his retirement. Elmer was a member of the Sauk Centre Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus Queen of Peace Assembly, the Melrose American Legion Post #101 and St. Mary’s Cathedral in St. Cloud.

He will be missed as a Beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, and Great-grandfather.

Survived by wife of 66 years, Virginia, daughter, Sandra and husband Mark Knooihuizen; son, Dale and his wife Sandra; grandchildren, Michael Knooihuizen (Amy), Thomas Knooihuizen (Rachel), Holly Couture (Troy) and Kathryn Nordquist (Richard); ten great grandchildren; sisters, Marian, Etta and Jeannie; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by parents; brother Norbert; sister, Dorine; and great grandson Emmitt Couture.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
