Elmer F. Rhode

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:30 AM on Wednesday, March 20, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 219 2nd St. N., Sartell, for Elmer F. Rhode, 81, of Sartell, who died March 15, 2013. Entombment will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Sauk Rapids. The Reverend Timothy Baltes will officiate.
Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 PM on Tuesday, and from 10:30-11:30 AM on Wednesday at the gathering space of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Sartell. Parish Prayers will be at 5:00 PM on Tuesday at the Church. Arrangements are with the Daniel Funeral Home, Sartell.
Elmer was born on May 14, 1931, in Minneapolis, to John and Rose (Urbanski) Rhode. He graduated from Foley High School and St. Cloud State University. He married Arlene DeZiel at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Morrill, MN on November 22, 1955. Elmer worked for Hanna Mining in the Spring Valley and Hibbing areas for 35 years. Elmer continued working as a consultant for 20 years after retiring. Elmer will be remembered as a kind, and loving man. He loved his family gatherings; he enjoyed fishing, hunting, and trips down south. His faith was strong and he was very active at St. Kevin’s Catholic Church in Pengilly. Elmer and Arlene had 57 loving years together. Arlene was the love of his life.
Elmer is survived by: wife Arlene; sister Rita Egger; in-laws Joan Rhode, Gary (Joni) DeZiel, Jerry (Ruby) DeZiel, Margie Rathbun, Lois DeZiel, Dwayne (Elaine) DeZiel, Pat DeZiel; many special nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Roger, brothers-in-law Lawrence Egger, Jim Rathbun, Earl DeZiel, and Dale DeZiel.
