Eugene C. "Gene" Pullis

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, January 7, 2011 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in St. Cloud for Eugene C. “Gene” Pullis, age 89, of St. Cloud who passed away on Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at Sterling Park Health Care Center in Waite Park. Reverend Gregory Lieser will officiate. Burial will take place with military honors in Assumption Cemetery in St. Cloud.

Family and friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday and after 11:00 a.m. on Friday at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud. Parish prayers will be held at 6:00 p.m. followed by the St. Cloud V.F.W. Post # 428 ritual at 6:30 p.m. and the Eagles Aerie #622 at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.

Gene was born on October 19, 1921 in Correll, Minnesota to Charles and Ida (Lundgren) Pullis. He served honorably in the United States Army during the European Theater in WWII. He married Viola Kipp on November 26, 1946 in Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Graceville. Gene worked for Northwestern Bell for 38 years, retiring in 1984. He lived in St. Cloud most of his married life. He was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church, St. Peter’s Men’s Club, St. Cloud V.F.W. Post #428, Eagles Aerie #622, Communication Workers of America, and the Telephone Pioneers of America.

Gene enjoyed playing cards, fishing, hunting, and volunteering with many organizations. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family.

Survivors include his loving wife of over 64 years, Viola; children, Dave (Nadine) of St Cloud, Sr. Jeanette “Deanna” Schoenstatt Sisters of Mary of Waukesha, WI, Kevin (Gail) of Sartell, Greg (Kathy) of St. Cloud, Randy (Cheryl) of Clearwater; grandchildren, Michelle, Kristie, Andy, Marc, Nicole, Jared, Molly, Tiffany, and Daylan; nine great grandchildren; one brother, Rollin (Eleanor) of Chokio; and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Alicia in 2000; and one brother, Donald.

Memorials are preferred to the Schoenstatt Sisters of Mary.
