So sorry for your loss. Jesus Christ boldly promised the resurrection hope in John 5:21,28,29. Yes Jesus promised that milliions now dead will live again here on earth and have the prospect of remaining forever under peaceful paradasaic conditions. Psalms 37:1011,29, and 72:7,8. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 7, 2012 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in St. Cloud for Florence P. Dorn, age 73 of St. Cloud who passed away on Monday, June 4, 2012 at the St. Cloud Hospital surrounded by her family. Reverend Alan Wielinski, Reverend Gregory Lieser and Reverend Herbert Gappa, MM will officiate. Burial will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday at Our Lady of Seven Dolors Parish Cemetery, Millerville.
Family and friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday (TODAY) at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud and after 9:30 a.m. on Thursday at the church. The Christian Women will pray a rosary at 4:30 p.m. followed by parish prayers will be 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home in St. Cloud.
Florence was born to Albert and Caroline (Ledermann) Bitzan at the family home in Millerville Township in Douglas County, Minnesota on August 9, 1938. She was the eighth of nine children. She was baptized, confirmed and married at Our Lady of Seven Dolors. She grew up on the family farm on the shores of beautiful Lake Moses. On June 17, 1961, Florence married George Dorn in Millerville. Florence will be remembered as loving a wife, mother, grandmother and sister.
Florence and George lived in rural Otter Tail County for four years before moving to St. Cloud in 1965. She was an active member of St. Peter’s Church, Mission Group and Christian Women, serving on the School Board and teaching religion classes. Florence was a founder of the St. Cloud Granite Grinders 4-H Club. Florence worked at the St. Cloud Catholic Credit Union for 13 years. She also assisted with personal tax filings through AARP at St. Cloud Whitney Center for many years. Florence enjoyed gardening, flowers and fishing with George. She was a talented seamstress, a great cook and loved to bake, with apple pies being her specialty.
Florence is survived by her husband, George of St. Cloud; her five children, Paul (Stasia) of Plymouth, Mona (Steve) Freeberg of Bloomington, Julie (Joe) Heinze of Elrosa, Randy (Janel) of Sauk Rapids, and Amy of Oakdale; ten grandchildren, Mathew and Brandon Dorn, Kersten and Megan Freeberg, Shawn and Teresa Heinze, John, Victoria, David and Robert Dorn. Also survived by two sisters, Margaret Schmidt of Alexandria, Bernadine Schiele of Millerville and three brothers, Edward of Evansville, James (Carol) of Onamia and Charles (Sue) of Fridley; brothers-in-law, Edward (Virginia) Dorn of Hoyt Lakes, Bernard (Blanche) Dorn of Alexandria, Joseph Dorn of Parkers Prairie, David (Hildegard) Dorn of Fergus Falls; and many nieces and nephews.
Florence was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Dorothy, Robert and Irene Stariha; granddaughter, Lisa Heinze; and mother and father-in-law, Barbara and Harry Dorn.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the Coborn Cancer Center Physicians, Nurses and Ancillary Staff, the St. Cloud Hospital and Home Care & Hospice Services for their support.
Memorials are preferred in lieu flowers.
