Harold J. Mareck

Mass of Christian Burial celebrating the life of Harold J. Mareck, 94, of St. Cloud and formerly of Sauk Centre will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in St. Cloud. Harold passed away peacefully on Friday, January 3, 2014 at the St. Cloud Hospital. Reverend Thomas Knoblach will officiate. Burial will be in Assumption Cemetery, St. Cloud.
Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud and after 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday at the church. Parish prayers will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
Harold was born on October 14, 1919 in rural Albany to Frank and Rose (Friedl) Mareck. He was raised on the Albany farmstead until, at age 15, the family moved to rural Elrosa. In 1942 he moved to the farm near Padua, where he and Yolanda Lentz, married June 13, 1946, farmed for 37 years. He and Yolanda then retired to Avon, and later, St. Cloud. He was a former member of the Stearns County Fair Board, the Sauk Centre School Board, and St. Anthony of Padua Parish in Padua. He was an avid reader of history, took an active interest in politics and world events. He enjoyed traveling, and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Harold is survived by his wife of 67 years, Yolanda; ten children, Maureen Scaglia (Bill Breeggemann) of Richfield, John, Mary Kay and Jane all of St. Cloud, Kathy Faith of Baltic, SD; Ken (Lynn) of Portland, OR, Teresa of Salt Lake City, UT, Ann of Minneapolis, Sylvia Nelson (Mark Breitling Replica) of Plymouth, Karen of St. Paul; sisters, Florence Heinen and Helen Weichmann; and brothers, George and Robert.
He was also the proud grandfather of John and Christine Scaglia, Jilena, Stephan and David Faith, Angela, Jason and Nathan Kuefler; Laura and Zachary Nelson. He also has eight great grandchildren.
Harold was preceded in death by his brothers, Magnus, Alphonse, and Donald; son-in-law, Tom Scaglia; bentley replica watches and grandson, Jason Kuefler.
