Helen M. Kurr

Mass of Christian Burial celebrating the life of Helen M. Kurr, age 89, of St. Cloud will be at 1:00 PM on Thursday, November 30, 2006 at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church in St. Cloud.  Helen died on Monday, November 27, at St. Benedict’s Senior Community.  Officiating will be her brother, Rev. Paul Zylla, her cousin, Rev. Robert Zylla, and Rev. Luke Steiner.  Entombment will be in Assumption Cemetery. 

Friends may call between 4:00-8:00 PM on Wednesday (Today) and after 11:30 AM on Thursday at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud.  The Daughters of Isabella will pray at 4:30 PM and St. Augustine’s parish prayers will be at 7:00 pm Wednesday at the funeral home.

Helen was born on May 10, 1917 in Fargo, ND to Peter and Theodosia (Gapinski) Zylla. She married Norman J. Kurr in June 1939. She excelled in writing poetry and in gardening. She owned her own tax service business for many years. She painted scenic and still life in both oil paints and watercolors. She loved her God, and her children: Norman Kerr of St. Petersburg, FL; Dennis Kurr of Austin, TX; Paul Kurr of St. Paul; Michael Kurr of Burnsville; and Peter Kurr of Ghent.

Survivors include her children; 14 grandchildren; great grandchildren; brothers: Rev. Paul Zylla of St. Cloud, Sylvester “Sy” Zylla of Bloomington, Peter Zylla of St. Cloud; and sister Virginia Zylla of St. Cloud.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in March 1996, brothers Alexander, Daniel, and sister Mary Zylla.
