Herbert Harold Faust

Graveside Services with military rites will be held at 10 A.M. on Friday, May 3, 2024 at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, MN for Herbert Harold Faust.  He died on Saturday, March 9, 2024 at the St. Cloud VA Medical Center in St. Cloud, MN.

Herbert was born and grew up with his 3 brothers and sister (Malcolm, Richard, Ronald, and Patricia) in St. Paul, MN. He was a member of the Boy Scouts and had a paper route while he was in school, where he earned his Boy Scout Eagle Award in 1946 and graduated from St. Paul’s Central High School that same year. After graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and then the Army Reserves, where he served from 1946 to 1952 in Japan and Korea, receiving the World War II Victory Medal and Army of Occupation Medal.

He married Phyllis Carol Kreutzfeldt on August 16, 1952, while still in college and then graduated from the University of Minnesota, Institute of Technology, with a B.S. in Mining Engineering on June 12, 1954. They then moved to the Iron Range area of northeastern Minnesota where Herb worked for the Hanna and Erie mining companies. He was a longtime member of the Northern Minnesota Engineering Club with several of his children and grandchildren following in his engineering footsteps.

Herb and Phyllis loved traveling every year around the country seeing family, friends, and many wonderful sights.  He continued to travel, visiting family and friends, after Phyllis passed.  Both were actively involved in their local church. He was an avid trap shooter and enjoyed bowling.

Preceded in death by his beloved wife of 49 and a half years, Phyllis C. Faust (nee Kreutzfeldt) on December 18, 2001.

He is survived by; children Jeff (Joan), Lynn, Sheryl (Brad), Mark (Lori); grandchildren Nicholas, Nathaniel, Catrina, Caroline, Jessie, Patrick, Rachel, Ellen, Griffin; five great-grandchildren, Shay, Baylon, Zoey, Ari, and Keaire; and many nieces and nephews.
