Herbert J. Gohman
July 21, 1920 – October 27, 2012

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. on Tuesday, October 30, 2012 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in St. Cloud for Herbert J. Gohman, age 92, of St. Cloud. Herb passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 27 at the St. Cloud Hospital with family at his side. Burial will take place in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Little Falls with full military honors. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday.
Herb was born July 21, 1920 in Clear Lake, MN to Anthony and Margaret (VanHeuveln ) Gohman. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during WWII in the Pacific Theatre. He married Angeline Theis on May 21, 1949 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Cold Spring. He worked for Tenvoorde Ford for over 32 years as a parts salesman. He was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Catholic United Financial, St. Cloud Eagles Aerie 622, VFW Post 428 and the Marine Corps League Valhalla Detachment #171. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing, camping, traveling by motorhome and golfing in his later years. He was also active at the Whitney Senior Center where he enjoyed his Pool Club.
Herbert is survived by his wife Angeline, children Patricia “Pat” (Barry) Ryan of Sandstone, Kaye (Alex) Steir of Auburn, CA, Karen (David) Johnson of Shakopee, David Gohman of Sauk Rapids, Thomas Gohman of St. Cloud and Melissa (Craig Erickson) Gohman of Sartell, nine grandchildren, three great grandchildren and sister Violet Fletcher of Simsboro, LA.
Preceding him in death were his parents, brother Kenneth and sisters Louise Zindler and Virginia Seely.
The family would like to thank Fr. Thomas, Fr. Matthew, and Barb Spoden for the many home visits while Herb was sick. Also a thank you to St. Cloud Hospital Hospice, team of home care and especially the volunteers George Aleshire, Kathy Brummer and Cathy Jenniges.
