Mass of Christian Burial will be at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 14, 2011 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in St. Cloud for Ione D. Dukowitz,86, of St. Cloud who passed away on Saturday, April 9, 2011 at the Country Manor Health Care Center in Sartell. Reverend Alan Wielinski and Reverend Gregory Lieser will officiate. Burial will take place at the Minnesota State Veteran Cemetery, Little Falls.
Family and friends may call from 4:00 pm. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the Daniel Funeral Home and after 11:30 a.m. on Thursday at the church. The Christian Women will pray at 4:30 p.m. followed by parish prayers at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home in St. Cloud.
Ione was born June 24, 1924 in St. Cloud, Minnesota to William and Mary (Egan) Rooney. She married Frank Dukowitz on July 10, 1943 at St. John Cantius Catholic Church in St. Cloud. Ione lived in St. Cloud most of her life. She was a member of St. Peter’s Parish, Christian Women, Catholic United Financial, Catholic Order of Foresters, Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary Unit #428 and St. Cloud Eagles #622 Auxiliary.
Survivors include her children, Darleen (Tom) O’Farrell of Coon Rapids, Bill of Isanti, Paul (Doris) of Avon, Lois (Don) Evans of St. Cloud, Chuck (Patti) of St. Cloud, Jerry (Kathy) of St. Cloud, Tim (Brenda) of St. Cloud, Terri (Brian) Christman of St. Joseph and Alice (Cliff) Teigland of St. Cloud; 22 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; sisters, and brothers, Irene Lammersen of St. Cloud, Donald of Minneapolis, Ralph “Mickey” of Minneapolis, Ronald of Crescent City, California, Patrick of Downy, California, Elaine Popp of Redwing, Jeanette Hannig of St. Cloud and Harold of Sauk Rapids.
Ione was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; sisters, Luella and Marie; and brother, Dennis.
Ione’s family would like to thank the Country Manor Health Care Center staff for their care and the Sisters of the Poor Clare’s Monastery for their prayers.

AUNT IONE WAS A SWEETHEART. SHE SPOKE HER MIND BUT WAS ALWAYS KIND. SHE ALWAYS WELCOMED OUR ENTIRE CREW INTO HER HOME AND I’LL ALWAYS REMEMEBER THE GOOD TIMES WITH OUR DUKOWITZ COUSINS. I LOVED TO HEAR HER LAUGH. WHAT A GREAT LAUGH. WE WILL MISS YOU.
