Ione M. (Twomey) Daniel

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, May 19,at St. Mary’s Cathedral Upper Church, for Ione M. (Twomey) Daniel, 85, who died Friday, May 15, 2009. The Reverend Al Stangl will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4:00-7:00 PM on Monday, and after 12:00 noon on Tuesday at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud. Parish prayers will be at 5:30 PM on Monday at the funeral home.
Ione was born on May 10, 1924 in Brockway Township, Stearns County, MN, to James W. and Hildegard (Hilger) Twomey. Ione graduated from Cathedral High School and attended the College of St. Benedict. She married Melvin F. Daniel on May 4, 1949. After practicing as a registered nurse at the St. Cloud Hospital, she obtained a nurse practitioner degree from the University of Minnesota, with which she completed her 28-year career at the VA Medical Center. She was a member of St. Mary’s Cathedral, Eagles Aerie #622 Auxiliary, and the East Side VFW 4847 Auxiliary. Ione’s quality of life was exhibited through her love of music, dance, nature and travel (Alaska, New Zealand, Africa, Germany, Mexico, Ireland, Hawaii, Australia, Austria, and Wisconsin).
Ione is survived by her children: Patrick (Margaret) Daniel of St. Cloud, Jeanne Daniel of Durand, WI, Kathy (Doug) Olson of St. Joseph, Bruce Daniel of St. Cloud; grandchildren: Eric (Mischa), Patrick, Macenzie, Nicole, Zachary; great-grandchild Alex; brothers and sisters: Jerry (Joan) Twomey, Renee Twomey, Kathleen Pecchia, Elaine (Bill) Stramer, Dave (Mary) Twomey, and Barb (Bob) Wolfe.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Mel, brother Jim, sisters Hilde (Dick) Nolan, and Julie (Nic) Wenner.
