James D. Hoffmann

November 17, 1955 – September 29, 2009

Memorial services celebrating the life of James D. Hoffmann, 53, of St. Cloud will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 3, 2009 at Life Assembly of God (2409 Clearwater Road, St. Cloud). James passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 29, 2009 at the St. Cloud Hospital. Pastor Craig Moore will officiate. Burial with full military honors will be in Assumption Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud and one hour prior to services Saturday at the church. A prayer service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.

Jim was born on November 17, 1955 in St. Cloud, Minnesota to Joseph and Eleanor (Jansen) Hoffmann. He was proud of his seven years in the U.S. Marine Corps and spent time in Okinowa, Japan. Jim also was a recruiter for the Marine Corps in Iowa. After the military, Jim returned to St. Cloud and was employed for the U.S. Post Office for 28 years. During his career, he worked at many levels at the Waite Park Processing Center from mail sorter, p.m. Supervisor and finally Plant Manager. He retired in March 2009 as Postmaster in Little Falls. Jim was very dedicated, conscientious and passionate about his work.

Family meant the world to Jim and he loved spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. He enjoyed camping, fishing and traveling. He also had a lifelong passion for the Vikings and Twins.

Jim is survived by his wife, Margie of St. Cloud; son, Mike of St. Cloud; daughter, Missy Coulter of St. Cloud; step-daughters, Becky (Brian) Bzdok of Royalton and Jenny Koll of Waite Park; ten grandchildren, Alyssa, Ben, Emma and Tommy Hoffmann, Beth, Becca and Dylan Coulter, Isaiah Diedrichsen, Annabelle and Aleah Bzdok; sister, Carol of Bend, OR; and brother, Joey of Fallon, Il.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A special thank you is given to Dr. Shuster for his conscientious, thorough and kind treatment. Also a thank you for all the wonderful, compassionate care Jim received at the St. Cloud Hospital from the nursing staff and other caregivers. Their kindness will not be forgotten.
