Joyce I. Wehlage

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, St. Cloud, for Joyce Irene Wehlage, age 92, of St. Cloud, Minnesota. Reverend Dereck Wiechmann will officiate. Joyce passed away peacefully on October 4, 2026, at Benedictine Living Community, Mother of Mercy in Albany, MN, surrounded by her family. Burial will take place at Assumption Cemetery in St. Cloud.

Visitation will be held Monday, October 12, 4:00-7:00 pm at the Daniel Funeral Home, St. Cloud, and at 10:00 am on Tuesday at the church.

Joyce was born May 5, 1934, in Elrosa, MN Stearns County to Otto and Clementine (Roelike) Nickols. She married Elmer Wehlage on September 17, 1955, at St. Peter and Paul’s Catholic Church in Elrosa. Joyce lived in St. Cloud since 1967. She was employed as a secretary for the St. Cloud Hospital and St. Cloud State University.

Joyce was a member of Daughters of Isabella, Holy Spirit choir, and volunteered her time at Paramount Theatre as an usher and helped with Foster Grandparents. Elmer and Joyce were also active for many years in a dance club. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, baking, traveling with family and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by her children Paul Wehlage of Minneapolis, Anne Groetsch (Wehlage) and husband Rick of St. Cloud, Mark Wehlage and wife Paula of Sun City Center FL, Mary Wehlage of Eagan, David Wehlage of St. Augusta, Thomas Wehlage and wife Brenda of Sauk Rapids; 14 grandchildren; and 9 great grandchildren. In addition, she is survived by her remaining sister, Diane Nickols of Petoskey, Michigan.

Joyce was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Elmer, who passed away on March 30, 2010; her parents, Otto and Clementine (Roelike) Nickols; children, Gregory and Michael; her two brothers Duane and Vernon Nickols; sister, Celestine Kampa; brothers-in –law, Robert Welters, Norman Wehlage and Ray Wehlage; and sisters-in-law, Bernice Welters , Pat Rausch and Joan Wehlage
