Julie Behling Hull

Funeral services celebrating the life of Julie Behling Hull, age 97 of St. Cloud and formerly of Winona will be at 11 AM on Friday, October 22, 2010 at the Daniel Funeral Home Chapel in St. Cloud. Julie passed away on Sunday, October 17, 2010 at Benedict Homes in St. Cloud surrounded by family. Reverend John Jankowski will officiate. Burial will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis.

Visitation will begin at 10 AM Friday at the funeral home.

Julie was born on August 25, 1913 in Milestone, Sask., Canada to Paul and Blanche (Poulton) Aarnes. She was raised on a farm in rural Saskatchewan and moved to Minneapolis when she was a teenager. She graduated from St. Mary’s Hall in Fairbault and Ms. Wood’s Teacher’s School in Minneapolis. She was employed in Bloomer, WI as an elementary teacher. There she met Ralph Behling whom she married in 1937. They moved to Winona in 1947 where she resided for over 50 years. She obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Education in 1971 at Winona State then taught kindergarten at W-K in Winona. She married William M. Hull in 1982. Julie was a member of the St. Paul’s Episcopal Church where she was very active. She was past president of the Women’s Guild, served as a member of the Vestry and the Altar Guild. She was also active in P.E.O where she was past president of Chapter CS.

Julie loved gardening, bird watching, traveling, and most especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by her sons, Richard of Berthoud, CO, David (JoAnne Jenniges) of Tucson, AZ; daughters-in-law, Kathryn Behling of Thousand Oaks, CA, Bobbi Behling of Henning; six grandchildren, David and Jennifer Behling, Joshua (Kari) and Bari Behling and Tracy Zahler, and Weston Behling; six great grandchildren and one on the way.

She was preceded in death by her husbands; Ralph in 1966 and William in 1992; and son, Paul Behling in 2000.
