Ken was born on July 11, 1949, as an only child to Mathew and Ann (Kremers) Fuchs in St. Cloud, Minnesota. He graduated from St. Cloud State College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Photojournalism. Ken was married to Jane Viehauser from 1975-1997. Together, they purchased the first plot of farmland on Little Watab Lake and built their family home. In the only years the Twins won the World Series, they had two sons: Brody (1987) and Dylon (1991). Ken and Jane also owned and operated two restaurants in downtown St. Joseph: the Super Scoop ice cream shop, and El Toro’s Mexican restaurant. Later, Ken became a successful liquor salesman for the remainder of his working career.

Ken met Merry Mund in 2007 while dancing at the 400 Club. They were married on September 16, 2017. Together they shared a passion for music, enjoyed golfing, dancing, and drinking wine or a cheerleader beer with friends and family. They explored the entire US from salmon fishing in Alaska to the beaches of the Florida Keys and found warmth in Arizona and Texas to escape the harsh Minnesota winters.

Ken was a man who wore many hats throughout his life. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, coach, mentor, and friend. He was kind-hearted, supportive, and always had a soft spot for animals. He will be remembered fondly for his sense of humor and classic “Ken-isms” that always kept people laughing. He was most proud of his title of grandpa and cherished every opportunity to bond with his grandchildren over things like “ticking” Easter eggs, letting out a hearty “YA MULE!”, and eating his world-famous goulash.

He also had many hobbies and interests of his own. He was darn good at them, too! His life consisted of playing many rounds of golf, enjoying another Vikings crushing defeat, casting for the big fish out on Little Watab or Mille Lacs Lake, playing his bass guitar for local bands like Ruby Blues and the Drift Busters and BLT, and hunting deer or pheasants with his sons and friends. He took much pride in registering the 1st legal turkey in the state of Minnesota. Ken also spent many weekends camping and road tripping with his family, channeling his passion for photography by capturing moments along the way. Of course, most of these adventures included his #1 son: an English Springer Spaniel named Sam Adams, who was faithfully by Ken’s side for over 15 years.

Ken is survived by his loving wife of 8 years, Merry Mund; children, Brody (Kelly Kourtjian) of Fort Collins, CO and Dylon (Jen) of Lakeville; Merry’s children, Chris (Kori) Mund of Plymouth, and Julie (Kevin Grove) Mund of White Bear Lake; grandchildren, Sasha and Collin Fuchs, Reegan and Graham Fuchs and Vivienne Birdie Grove; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents; and his #1 son, Sam Adams.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Tri-County Humane Society or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.

A special thank you to the staff at Mother of Mercy and Moments Hospice for their loving and compassionate care of Ken.

So sorry for your loss! Loved having communication with Ken as a salesman for the liquor industry. Also memories of celebrating with Ken & Mary at the 400 club

Merry and family of Ken we are so very sorry to read of the passing of your beloved husband, father and grandfather. We have the most wonderful memories of a kind hearted man we were so fortunate to know even though briefly. We loved seeing him out for a walk with Sam Adams or listening to him play the bass so incredibly. He was an integral part of The Desert Mirage Band (even came up with the name) for too brief of a time but his talent lives on in our hearts. May God bless you all and give you comfort.

Sending our deepest Sympathies from all of us at DeLux Liquor in Luxemburg. 18 years ago Ken was our first and favorite liquor salesman and he sold more to me because he wasn’t trying then he would have if he had been pushy. He’s humor and personality were very enduring and he knew the business. I told him when he retired and I’ll tell you now he was a very important person in our early years of starting out and we are so grateful he was part of our business journey. It was also a treat to see him play with BLT and chat in between sets. He was a great human being and I’m glad to have met him and had the pleasure. Rest in Peace Ken Thanks for everything.

Merry, we are so sorry to hear of Ken’s passing. We had always hoped we would meet again on the banks of the Kenai River. Prayers for you and your families.

Dear Merry and Ken’s sons, I am so sorry for your loss! Ken was such a great guy! I met him on a Beginning Experience weekend around 1995, and we became good friends. He was the friend who greeted me as I walked out of the courthouse when my divorce was completed, and took me out for a beer (and mashed potatoes!) at O’Hara brothers. We went to WE fest a few times as friends and hung out with my family there. We went out dancing many times with a group of divorced and separated friends. He even sold me my first used mini-van, when he was ready to get a new vehicle! Ken was lots of fun and an all-around good guy. I will miss him.

Merry and family I am sorry for your loss. May the many happy memories of you and Ken together help you during this difficult time.

So sorry for your loss. Ken was a great guy, very caring person and always made us laugh. RIP Ken.
